It is not easy to see our babies hurting, we naturally want to protect them. Sometimes we protect them by allowing them to fly, like the eagle has to push the baby out of the nest and watch them develop their wings on the way down, so are we called to let our children be the biggest, strongest and best they can be. It is not always easy, but it what we mothers are born to do!

Ever wonder how some kids seem to be on top of the world, know just what to say and when to say it? They seemed to be liked by everyone. I propose that the parents attitudes and way they speak to the family have a lot to do with how the child views the world. In turn, the way the child views the world has everything to do with how the world views that child.

Follow me on this thought while watching this video. I think you will agree with me that this child has his mother’s outlook on the world…. and the world looks back in awe!

Smile and the world smiles back… what inspiration! I love how this mother from the beginning spoke to this child of what he COULD do and not what he was lacking. I love that she allows him to go into the world and not feel like she has to protect him from getting hurt. This is a brave woman and I honor her.

My heart and my love go out to all you mother warriors out there!

Some of you may recall that last year I was wondering what to do with all the trick-or-treat candy my daughter would collect. My chiropractor friend, Jack Ricci, had shared that he found a perfect (for me) solution~ the Pumpkin Fairy!

So, before we went trick-or-treating, I talked to my daughter about how candy is not good for your teeth or your tummy (health). She already knows that sugar is a sometimes thing… not an everyday treat. Then we discussed the Pumpkin Fairy!

Who is the Pumpkin Fairy?
Jack Ricci explains:

The Pumpkin Fairy has a special mission in life to help children become healthier and happier. She does this by calling on selected children to help her reduce the amount of unhealthy candy consumption in the world. She asks the children to collect as much or as little unhealthy candy as they wish on Halloween night and then to leave it in a basket near the front door of their house. Late at night after everyone has gone to bed the Pumpkin Fairy visits each house to retrieve the baskets of candy. She then leaves a special gift and a healthy treat for them to discover in the morning in appreciation for their help (a book or a toy and a healthy treat).

Our kids love this idea and so do we. They are happy because they get to connect with their friends in the celebration of Halloween. And they feel empowered by contributing to an excellent cause – reducing junk food consumption and improving their own health and the health of others. And we are happy because we don’t have to worry about them consuming a bunch of junk food and getting sick from it!

This is the video of right after she woke in the morning. I hope it gives you some ideas of things you can do to get creative when you want your child to participate in activities their friends do, but want a bit of a different outcome (we did not want all that candy around the house!)

I just received notification that the server I was hosting Passion Parent on had a virus and went down. Of course this occurred just in time for the launch of my friend, Amanda’s book Allowance Secrets. I happened to have been a contributing author and so there was a stream of people looking for PassionParent…. but it was on vacation. SIGH!

So, after a little tapping on “what the heck is this good for?” “What lesson or opportunity is to be gained here?”, I was able to see the chance to redesign PassionParent. I hope you are as excited about this as I am!

For those of you who came her during Passion Parent’s down time, thank you for your patience. For those of you that came back looking for some information (there was almost two year’s of information gathered here), I will miss it as much as you, but now we have the opportunity to create more!

Anyone who would like to become a contributing author, please send your blog post to Christine@PassionParent.com for review! I love contributing authors! Any thoughts or inspirations on what you would like to see here is also welcome!

Here’s to being a Passion Parent!
